The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society will host PLAY, a mental health conference to increase awareness and promote resources across the community.

The free event is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Regional Postsecondary Center on the Elizabethtown campus.

“This conference will benefit the college and community and it creates a unique networking opportunity regarding mental health,” said Kyle Kuenn, ECTC student and PTK Local Chapter President.

The conference will include a variety of presentations and other activities. Keynote speaker Dr. Jillian Carden will present Mental Health and Self-care’s Importance in Everyday Life. Other presentations and breakout sessions address adverse childhood experiences, emotional abuse and physical abuse, mental health and financial awareness, and sleep programs and mental health.

“I encourage everyone to join us to learn more about mental health and where to get assistance if needed,” said PTK advisor Kevin Parrett. “The general sessions, keynote speakers, and breakout sessions cover a wide range of mental health topics.”
