Family Scholar House (FSH) celebrated Thanksgiving this year with a meal drive, collecting donations from the community and distributing meals to ECTC students and their families in need. Donations allowed FSH to feed 65 families, a total of 343 individuals.
Each family’s meal included turkey, hen or ham, stuffing, macaroni and cheese, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, yams and cake.
“This really was a community effort,” said Lynnette Kennedy, Family Scholar House Regional Coordinator. “This is the first time we’ve held a Thanksgiving meal drive and to have reached our goal of 65 families is amazing. During distribution, it was a joy to know ECTC students would have a holiday meal to experience with their families.”
ECTC Chief Advancement Officer Megan Stith echoed Kennedy’s joy for the support from the community.
“From donations to donation stations, packing, sorting, delivery and distribution, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of community members and partners who also want to meet the needs of our students,” said Stith.
