Bullit Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement.
Date: Thursday Dec 19, 2019
Time: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST
Description:
This is an invite to VOLUNTEER AND/OR DONATE to help those less fortunate. Christmas is a special time of year for every one but it also brings a lot of challenges for many families and the homeless. Currently a number of groups throughout Bullitt County are making a huge difference for the HOMELESS and impoverished in this county.
On Thursday, December 19th from 5-8 PM these groups including Room in the Inn Bullitt County, Bullitt County Housing First, Turnaround Resource Center and HOPE of Bullitt County have been invited to join together to bring hope and joy to the lives of those in difficult circumstances this season. With the support of each of these groups and help of the community Paroquet Springs Conference Center in Shepherdsville, Kentucky will host and serve a Christmas Dinner to the homeless in this community.
Christmas is a time to remember what our savior Jesus Christ did for us, and in return share that same love.
Here is how you can help with this AMAZING EVENT.
* If you know an individual or family in need that is currently HOMELESS or in DESPERATE NEED for a hand up this Holiday Season please let one of the groups above know to reserve a spot at this year's CHRISTMAS DINNER.
It is important we get an idea on how many people can attend to prepare the correct amount of food.
* Food- Paroquet Springs has graciously agreed to donate their facility and provide the food at their cost. This will be a first class plated dinner for the homeless. We want this to be a very special night for them to enjoy as a family.
* We are still accepting Business Sponsorships to help as well if you, your employer or someone you know would like to help by making an in kind donation in the form of a gift card. We currently have a donor, Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial who has committed to matching up to $1,500 in donations and money raised for this event. To donate please visit the following link.
We will be adding a GoFundMe Account later this week - please check back for more details to follow.
* Santa- We will have a special appearance by Santa Claus along with the Shepherdsville Fire Department.
* Toys and Gift Cards- We are looking for a team of people, churches, businesses, schools or anyone that would want to get together and help donate toys for children ages 0-12. We are collecting gift cards for ages 13-17.
* Blankets and Socks- We are looking for donated blankets and socks to distribute to all adults at this event. If you could donate one or more blankets or package of socks to this cause that will be wonderful and very appreciated.
