ECTC makes 2022 Military Times Best for Vets list

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has been named to the 2022 Military Times Best for Vets: College list. This is the fourth time the college has made the list. Institutions making the list have been evaluated with the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and found exemplary.

“Our military connected students are an important part of our population and campus culture,” said ECTC Veteran Affairs Coordinator Ed Harris. “Our staff and faculty are committed to providing the best higher education experience possible.”

Higher education institutions throughout the country are invited by Military Times to complete a rigorous survey about costs, programs, policies and services involving military-connected students. Data from the U.S. Departments of Education, Veterans Affairs and Defense were also evaluated.

ECTC is the only two-year college in the state of Kentucky named to the list, among 310 other schools across the country.

“To be included in this ranking is an honor and proof of the effort by ECTC to support military students who deserve our great respect,” said Harris, a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to the ECTC Veterans Affairs Office, specialized services and programs for military-connected students include the ECTC Military and Veteran Services, ECTC’s Fort Knox Center and the U.S. Army Career Skills Program.

ECTC staff who contributed to the Best for Vets submission include Harris, Scholarship Coordinator Rachel Hepner, Fort Knox Center Interim Director Lisa Hinton, Joe Mattingly and Missy Milby with the ECTC Business Affairs Office, Director of Military and Veteran Services Mary Ann Flowers, Senior Administrative Assistant and VA School Certifying Official Tabbi Stutzenberger, Chief Academic Officer Darrin Powell, Director of Professional and Organizational Development Dr. Dale Buckles, Information Technology Coordinator Ron Dickerson, Registrar Bryan Smith, Director of Disability Support Services Teresa Brown, Director of Marketing and Recruitment Sarah Berkshire, Human Resources Coordinator Lilian Lawson, Julie Smith with the ECTC call center and Veterans Success Counselor with the Department of Veterans Affairs Sharell Williams. Harris extended a special thanks to Catherine Hazzard with institutional research for her data collection contribution.
