Family Scholar House gains new partner with Warrior Warehouse

Family Scholar House (FSH) and Helping Hands US Warrior Warehouse recently formed a new partnership to meet the needs of the ECTC community.

The partnership was sparked at the ECTC Community Breakfast in August where Deputy Garrison Commander Col. Jim Bradford heard ECTC President and CEO Dr. Juston Pate share about the importance of community partners and serving students’ academic and non-academic needs.

Helping Hands US Warrior Warehouse, led by volunteer Amy Grimm, collects donations all year long to supply community partners like Family Scholar House. Family Scholar House Regional Coordinator Lynnette Kennedy said the Fort Knox organization was thrilled to hear of the efforts Family Scholar House is leading in the Elizabethtown area and knew they could help.

“With this partnership, we’re able to sustain providing supplies for students,” said Kennedy. “We needed a consistent supplier that would allow us to coordinate when students come in for materials they need."

FSH has had a presence on campus since June. In that time, Kennedy and her team worked hard to stock a food pantry, personal care items pantry and professional clothes closet. Since June, more than 200 students have been helped by Family Scholar House. Kennedy said she’s excited for that number to grow.

Helping Hands US Warrior Warehouse is now providing a variety of supplies to Family Scholar House at ECTC including professional clothing, scrubs, personal care items, undergarments, toys, shoes and everything in between.

Students needing assistance are encouraged to visit Family Scholar House in the Student Success HUB located in the ATB building of ECTC’s Elizabethtown campus. Students will complete a needs assessment so that Kennedy and the FSH team can properly develop a plan for success. Each student’s plan is customized and is intended to help them achieve long-term stability.
