The Springfield History Museum welcomes community members who identify as Asian American, Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander to join us for a a hybrid community gathering, both virtual and in-person, to discuss and inform our 2022-2023 chapter of ILLUMINATION.
ILLUMINATION is a special annual exhibit that collects interviews, photographs and personal objects to share stories that illuminate the intersectionality of our Springfield identity. This year we are working with the community to explore what it means to be an Asian American, Native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Islander in Springfield, Oregon.
Our intention is for our project team, Thomas Hiura, Mimi Nolledo and Aimee Yogi, and staff to work directly with the community to co-design and co-create the exhibit, activities and events for this winter. You can learn more about this chapter of ILLUMINATION and the exhibit from 2021-2022 that featured Mexican-American community members at https://wheremindsgrow.org/illumination.
Please spread the word and join us on Tuesday, October 4th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Springfield History Museum at the corner of 6th and Main Street in downtown Springfield. Light refreshments will be provided.
